Biography: A Complicated Childhood
On September 7th, 1603 at Greenwich, United Kingdom, Anne Boleyn conceived future queen Elizabeth the first. Not long after, Elizabeth's mother would die by an execution sentenced on her by her husband Henry VII. He continued to rule and took another wife whom conceived Henry's first son, Edward.
After the death of her father, her brother, Edward VI would ascend to the throne, but after a short reign of 5 years he would die at the age of 15. Edward had appointed Lady Jane Grey, his cousin, as his successor. After only 9 days she would be dethroned. Mary, Elizabeth's sister, would then take the throne. After the death of her father Elizabeth had spent some time in the care of her stepmother, Catherine Parr and Catherine's husband Seymour, but after tensions with Parr's
husband and Elizabeth (He conspired to wed Elizabeth for political gain and was found guilty and executed.) She returned to the royal estate in Hatfield, united kingdom.
In 1554 Thomas Wyatt raised a rebellion against Mary in hopes of bringing protestant raised Elizabeth I to the throne. Thomas was caught and executed, and Elizabeth was under Mary's suspicion.
Finally, after the death of her sister, Elizabeth I took the throne. Overall, Elizabeth's reign and, when necessary, decisive leadership brought successes during a period of great danger both at home and out of country. She died at Richmond Palace on 24 March 1603, having become legend in her lifetime. The date of her accession was a national holiday for two hundred years.
